We pray that people who suffer from depression or burn-out will find support and a light that opens them up to life.

 

FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS OF CHILDREN INTENDING TO MAKE THEIR
FIRST PENANCE & FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND / OR SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2022
We are sincerely grateful for all the work the schools and the teachers do in preparing the young children of our parish in these important sacraments. They do tremendous work in helping children understand and appreciate these important days in their lives.
We as a parish also have a number of Masses throughout the year in which the parents and children participate at the Mass. Our Communion Program is called “Grow in Love” and the Confirmation program is called “Confirming Our Children”. This is part of the preparation for our children in making these sacraments more meaningful in their lives.
With the numbers of children in second / sixth class across the three schools of the parish, a certain amount of preparatory work is necessary to ensure you and your child is fully prepared for this sacrament in their lives. Also, we are aware that there are some children who will not be making these sacraments for various reasons. Therefore, we cannot assume that your child will be making their First Penance and first Holy Communion or Confirmation without your request
There is a meeting of all parents / guardians of children who wish to make these sacraments being held in Holy Cross Church, Tramore on Tuesday November 2nd.

2nd Class – for First Penance & First Holy Communion at 7pm.

6th Class – For Confirmation at 7.45pm. (If any parent has a child in both classes, they need only attend the first meeting at 7pm)

Application forms were emailed for completion by the parents/guardians.
We would ask you please to return the Application form to this meeting and NOT to the school.
If, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend this important meeting, then please return the form to the parish office, in the Church by Friday 5 th November at the very latest, and again, NOT the school.
If we do not receive the forms by 5th November 2021, we will assume that you do not wish your child to be included in this sacramental programme in the school and parish at this time. The time of preparation for sacraments is an opportunity for us all to be renewed and nourished in our own faith journey. We look forward to being part of that journey for you and your family at this time.

HOLY SOULS NOVENA
Our Novena for the Holy Souls begins Sunday 14 November at the 10.30am Mass. Weekday Novena Mass at 10am, until Monday 22 November.
Envelopes will be available in the porches.
Please hand them in to the sacristy, parish office or in the boxes by the sanctuary.
FOR SECURITY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE ENVELOPES ANYWHERE ELSE. Thank you.

Norms for Indulgences at the Commemoration of All Souls
1. From 12 noon on Nov 1stuntil midnight on Nov 2, all who have confessed, received Holy Communion and prayed for the Pope’s intentions (one Our Father and Hail Mary ,or any other prayer of one’s choice) can gain a plenary indulgence by visiting a church or oratory, and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostle’s Creed.
This indulgence is applicable only to the souls of the departed. Confession made be made at any time within a week preceding or the week following 1 Nov

2.The faithful who visit a cemetery and pray for the dead may gain a plenary indulgence applicable only to the Holy Souls on the usual conditions one per day from 1 to 8 Nov. The conditions mentioned above apply also to this.

 

BLESSING OF GRAVES IN TRAMORE

The blessing for graves in November, month of the Holy Souls will take place on these weekends, (Weather Permitting).

SUNDAY 7th NOVEMBER
3pm: Prayer Service in St Declan’s, Riverstown
3pm: Prayer Service in Holy Cross, Tramore, followed by blessing of graves in adjoining Cemetery, and St Patrick’s Cemetery.

 

BLESSING OF GRAVES IN CARBALLY

SUNDAY 14 NOVEMBER
The November blessing of graves in Carbally takes place on Sunday 10 November at 3pm beginning with a prayer service in the church. This will be followed by the blessing of graves in both cemeteries.

31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Reflection

What is Religious?
We often ask people what is most important to them in life. Various words come to mind – family, faith, love, and peace of mind, money or others. Jesus is asked something like this in the conversation of today’s gospel. His most important word is love – anything in the religious tradition of the time is secondary to love of God and love of the neighbour.

In August 2012 a survey indicated that the Irish are among the least religious people of Europe. This came out of a sample of 1,000 people and indicates something to do with religious understanding and practice. Maybe though we could challenge that we are most religious, not necessarily when we are in church or praying, but also when we are at our most loving and caring, or concerned for justice.

True religion is that, and is especially true when it cares for the needy. Jesus’ heart went out mostly to people like that in his own time, especially any group who were outcast like people suffering from leprosy.

This can be the same today. He is the one on the side of the needy, and most on our side when we are most needy. This is the meaning and the reason for the Christian community – to be bearers of love in our world.

So maybe in Ireland we are much more religious than the survey shows! When we love, in the smallest and biggest ways, among the family, neighbourhood and wider world, then we are religious in the name of Jesus.
Recall moments when you thought you were most ‘religious’ and
soon after were internally critical of other’s efforts.
Lord, may I find your love and call in everything I encounter this day.
