In keeping with national legislation, all those who volunteer in our churches must receive Garda Vetting if they are continue in their roles within the churches. Those who need to be vetted include sacristans, Readers of the Word, Extra-Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Baptism Team, cantors, choirs, musicians, cleaners, collectors, etc.

The response to this has been good but there are still a number of people who have not submitted their completed forms. The parish is blessed to have a very good team of volunteers in all areas of ministry and church maintenance and we have no wish to lose any of those volunteers. However, those who have not been Garda Vetted will no longer be able to volunteer in Holy Cross and Our Lady’s and their names will, unfortunately, have to be removed from our rotas. At present, vetting for another organisation cannot be used as vetting for the parish.

We are making one last appeal that all those who haven’t submitted their completed forms do so by Monday evening, January 29, 2018, by calling to the sacristy after Mass on Monday morning, or to one of the priests, with the necessary documents.
